SAD: Popular Nigerian Movie Director Amaka Igwe is Dead
One of the country's first and most successful icon in the movie industries known for outstanding jobs such as Big daddy, Checkmate and Fuji House of Commotion among others has just passed on.
Popular film producer, writer and director, Amaka Igwe, according to reports, she died of an asthma attack last night. at age 51.
Amaka Igwe is renowned for her brilliance and creative film concepts, especially in her successful sitcoms like Checkmate and Fuji House of Commotion.
She was, until her death, one of Nollywood’s remarkable movie directors and one of the few contemporary movie makers with their films on celluloid.
Her celluloid film is A Barber’s Wisdom, a film which was included in M-Net’s film project with Nigerian producers.
She has garnered international recognition with her films, giving exposure to the Nigerian home video industry. She produced the award-winning movie, Forever, and founded Amaka Igwe Studios and Top FM Radio.
According to reports, she was in Enugu for pre-production of an Igbo series when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Amaka Igwe hails from Obinagu, Enugu, Nigeria and is survived by her husband and three children.
