Brymo still with ChocolateCity - Label Boss says
According to the action of one of Chocolate City Record’s finest acts, Brymo who tweeted recently that he had left the label, founder and chief Executive Officer of the label, Audu Makori, has refuted the claim, insisting that he’s still with the label.
He said this during a press conference held at the label’s Lekki office on Wednesday, May 29 this year.
According to him, Brymo is on a three year contract to produce three albums with them so, there’s no way he’s going to leave the label without completing his contract deals. At the moment, Brymo has just one album out in the market.
As for what transpired between the label and Brymo, Audu explained that as a lawyer, following the rule of law is his priority, and would like artistes to work within their contract terms too. According to him, it was impossible for Brymo to have decided to quit his contract without following due process. He has to either “play or pay”. But he stressed that there’s no personal war going on between the label and Brymo.
Citing himself as an example, M.I who was also on ground, supported Audu saying, loyalty, humility and hard work are qualities expected of an artiste under any record label. According to him, artistes are expected to be loyal to their labels and team, humble and hardworking as that’s what stood M.I out and promoted his career.
Further questioning revealed that upon Brymo posting his smoking picture on instagram, Audu had asked him to remove the picture but Brymo refused which amounted to insubordination, a move not good for the brand. In all, Audu stressed that he isn’t interested in painting anyone black but that both parties should sit at a round table and talk matters over to their advantage.
